Veggie Protein Smoothie:A Great Post-Workout Meal
Who agrees with me that there’s not much more satisfying than a good run? It clears my mind, boosts my energy levels and, during this time of year, allows me to get outside and get some vitamin D from the sun.
Not to mention, a good long run can help burn fat. But there’s a caveat to that – in order to burn fat both during and after your run, you need the proper nutrition within 30 minutes after your workout. So what is the proper nutrition? Well, this is going to vary depending on your age, sex and physical activity level, but what is important to remember is that you need a good source of protein plus carbohydrates post-run. This can be achieved a variety of ways, but one of my favorites happens to be a post workout smoothie. And because vegetarian/vegan diets can provide a ton of health benefits – such as improving immune function, supporting a healthy weight and lean body mass, and aiding in maintaining healthy blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels that are already within the normal range – I’ve decided to share one of my new secret weapon smoothie recipes that is vegan, soy- and dairy-free! Plus, the protein powder used in this recipe is also non-GMO, kosher-certified, and USDA organic-certified!
